#40827 - New project free to a good home |
Greatings If anyone is looking for a new project I have been asked by a group of visually disabled people that I have done somework for to develop a system whereby a partialy sighted person can put preprinted bar coded lables onto items, such as food tins, video tapes etc and then scan the barcode with a barcode wand and have a big bright handheld display show the items name,kat-o-munch or beans and so on.Because the problem they have is have great difficulty seeing small lables. I am rather tied up with other projects at the moment, and thought it might be a good student project. It needs to be battery powered, handheld, with a big, high contrast display,or maybe instead of a display a sound sample is played for each different bar code read.whatever. Anyone fancy having a go,the main design goals are cheap to make, easy to use if you cannot see well, battery powered and robust. |
