I have an old friend who is a patent attorney, and he handles technical patents like comms stuff AFAIK.

You can always reduce some of the costs by drafting the claims yourself, and doing your own searches.

And as you know, you MUST keep absolutely silent about what it is you are patenting until it is filed.
