I used in in two projects: 1) as a quadrature decoder for HP Motor Inc Sensor 2) as analog frontend to measure light in a professional photograph application using I2C to communicate to the main system.
Both apps run fine. There are some hangups using the JTAG insystem debugger, but nothing grave.
