You should also download something like the free Keil Evaluation software, and work through the example 8051 projects (the download includes their simulator - so you don't even need any real hardware at this stage!)
You should also request a copy of Keil's free CD-ROM - it contains a wealth of information & links for the 8051 (and includes the evaluation software).

Of course, being free evalution software, there are some limitations - make sure you know what they are!
