You are right!! I messed up on the multiply by 10 algorithm. Here is what I meant to have said...

Multiply the binary accumulator by ten. This can often be done as follows....save a copy of the binary accumulator....then shift the binary accumulator left by two....next add the saved copy to the binary accumulator...and finally shift the binary accumulator left by 2. (This works becasue x*10 = ((x*2)*2)+x)*2).
