The memory is there and accessible... if I try to read or write to any memory location between 8000h and 9FFFh using XBY() I am able to do so.

Furthermore, the CE pin on the NVRAM toggles to active low when reading to or writing from these locations, so the problem seems to be in the programming algorithms...
