I second the movement to throw it away. If I put that chip in a design, I would think "that's the chip that overheats when none of the others do. Mmmm chip..." After returning from my snack break, I would continue thinking "I wonder when it is going to fail. Who might give me a call and make me service the design, or how much time will I waste testing the circuit every time I suspect it has gone belly up?" Then it meets the trash. Or I get out the heavy-duty pliers and convert it into dust.
Of course I am the kind of guy who throws away food that I *suspect* is bad. Maybe its just my style. - Lee |
