I was inspired to do this work that could be made public because as far as I could see almost all, if not all, of the manufacturer available stuff for the graphics displays was byte aligned bitmap stuff.

I wrote it in C becasue it makes the code very easily portable to alternate processor platforms. In addition of is a major pain to write the likes of the font glyph painter subroutine in assembly language. :-)
