I too have seen what Terry has reported. Personally I would like to suggest that upon entering a new post to a message that the thing should instead return to the thread page itself.

I manage to keep my message markers by opening the forum main page in my browser but then go to a thread by "Open In New Window". If the post new reply would simply return to the thread page window (which is an auxilliary window in mu case), Then the main forum window markers would not get reset all the time.

I find the message markers extremely handy and like their presence.....but I find that I wished they were a bit more robust and it took more specific action on my part to clear them out as opposed to simply exiting from a thread reply window.
