#46689 - RE: 1 Hz clock chip ? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Philips PCF8583 also produces a 1 Hz output, this one on pin 7 also but the package is 8 pin. Access is via I2C and also has built in clock/calendar and also provides 240 bytes of RAM. This one does not provide for battery backup although I have mine running perfectly on a 3.2 V Lithium battery through a couple of diodes, a resistor, and a capacitor. Minimum operating voltage is 1.0V if the I2C bus is inactive. Timebase requires either a 50Hz source or 32,768 crystal.
