The grapevine has that Flash is/soon will be cheaper than eeprom due to the cheaper package (plastic vs windowed ceramic). Also the old bulky devices (oh my old eyes miss them) will soon be totally obsolete. Thus EPROM will be obsolete, the question is not if, but when.
