I am extremely new to programming microcontrollers so excuse my lack of knowledge and minimal understanding of terminology. I am in the process of reading through various tutorials.

I would like to recover the code from a previously programmed chip. What steps would I take to do this? The chip is an Atmel atmega8, which from my limited understanding, is not part of the 8052 family. My assumption is that similar methodologies would be used for exctracting code regardless of the chip type.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
