generally at the line receiver side i see an RC (series) combination of 100ohm and 0.001uF.
The RC termination is NOT recommended. It may be required in low power battery operated equipment but the R-3R termination is rock solid. but in your case there must be something seriously wrong if it refuses to work with 10m cable. have a look with an oscilloscope! not necessarily 10m back and forth is 20m = 60ft 60*5ns = 300ns echo. Without termination you can get echoes of echoes. If mak is trying to run high speed it definitely can be a problem. This, as well is discussed in the appnotes I refer to. Erik |
