Hi David,
Every time I've used a '51 part I've had the baud rate based on crystal/12. That's why you'll frequently see comments here on choosing your crystal based on your desired baud rate...and why 11.0592MHz is so popular, since you can easily get exact 9600 baud. While what you want to do can be made to work, it seems unnecessarily complicated, uses up a port pin and requires an external clock source. Dennis |
