#49584 - 74HC244 or RS422/RS485 drivers |
I am planning to control a Serial VFD driver IC located at 10 metre max distance through a bus driver 74HC244 from 89c51 uC.
The serial display driver is controlled from main unit by software. The pins to control are CLOCK, STROBE and DATA.The Power (+5V,0.5A) is also supplied from main unit. The Remote dispaly unit accomodates power conversion from +5V to get necessary filament and grid voltages for VFD display. My query is whether the proposed design will work with 74HC244 drivers and no receiver on remote display or i have to use a RS422/RS485 drivers and receivers? By the way i can slow the clock frequency to less than 100khz. I can use directly the well proven drivers and receivers but cost is my deciding criteria or alternatives exists ?. Thanks for your time. V.Nagarajan. |
