I am sorry I dont agree with you that all that is there to be invented has been invented.

And life is not all about inventions only - even small changes to an existing product takes it on to a different plane in terms of convenience. You have been using the mouse with that cable - for maybe years. Did it ever strike to you that THE NUISANCE is the cable ? Somebody did and today you have the wireless stuff - it IS SO CONVENIENT.

Then you had the mouse with the ball - and all associated problem of stuck balls, dirt etc. And someone thought of removing the ball and using a small optical sensor - again IT IS SO CONVENIENT. It practically needs no surface . OK even that has a problem - it will not work on reflective surfaces - maybe tomorrow somebody will solve that also..

Not that the way is not there - maybe just thatyou are not looking enough.
