I think Erik is wrong.

You don't need to have a patent.
You don't need to have mass production.
You don't need fight against others, at least for a while.

You need find a application that somebody need or somebody want to pay for.

Obviously it depends how much money you want.

To be small can be a great thing. You have low cost, less employees.

I am sure of it.
Big companies = big problems = big money, but it may not represent big profit.

Many Big companies can have only 2% of profit.
Pay attention on Wall Mart, their profit is like 3%.
They need to make the World run, in order to earn their money.
If something goes bad, they can brake.

I prefer 40% profit. Low risk.
