properly designed battery powered CMOS RAM works very reliably. But there are so many parameters and traps, that it's almost impossible to find the mistake of your circuit and give help, without having a schematic.
Is it possible for you, to draw a schematic of your circuit? If you cannot publish it in this forum, you can send it directly to me, and I will have a look at it. Promised!
