I checked that link, but I don't think I have reached that far yet. The crystal valid bit (OSCXCN.7) has to be set by the hardware first before I should write 0x08 (or 0x88 as said in that thread) to OSCICN to switch the clock source.

The board was from Cygnal and I did not change anything on that.
