pitfalls on an RTC component?

first pitfall : not reading the datasheet.
second pitfall : ask the forum for code.
third pitfall : start coding firmware on a sunday evening.
next pitfall : forgot to use BCD format.
final pitfall : hardware failure.
long time pitfall : low quality crystal used.


that should be all ..... i guess ....
