Forget about trying to interconnect multiple devices without a master/slave relationship. If you have had real experience making an interconnection between multiple devices with a master managing multiple slaves then you would already know how simple that is to do. Along with that you would also be able to see the complications that can arise out of trying to kill off the master and let the workers all run the factory. Invariably chaos results !!

I say get a grip on it and make it with master and slaves. I have yet to see in 25 years of doing embedded types of things where a true peer to peer no master network was able to perform any useful function.
