Hi Scott,

Check out http://www.wotsit.org/ Most every file format you can imagine is described there.

You might want to take a look at the required file size (play with the wav files on your PC). Wave files can be pretty big, even for short pieces. Start planning early on regarding handling large amounts of data, and start thinking of how you are going to get the data from your PC to your 8051.
