Best and reasonably accurate combination for your needs :

8952 + PCF8583 real time clock + 3.6V coin cell for running the clock in the absence of power.

This RTC is a I2C version and software I2c routine are available from net / me.

OK for that matter you can use RTC from Dallas or Maxim etc. But RTC with T0 timer is a last option.
