I dont think that there are any variants of 8051 to interface quadrature encoders. I visited this site for the same some time back. Finally I implemented in CPLD. I promised to come back with results. It works fine, as debouncing implemented and takes care of oscillations around a single edge. Will post it in evening, the code is at office.
