#56696 - Home Automation with 8051
Hi all,
I'm researching for a project to control X10 devices(modules that interpret signals sent through house wiring with the purpose of turning ON/OFF lights - or anything plugged into them.) and I am considering using the 8051.
Has anyone any experience in this area?
What I want is to connect the CM17A Firecracker module(serial connection, sends RF signals to X10 transceiver which then sends the signal along the house wiring) to an 8051 board so that I can send commands to it.
Also I want to be able access the 8051 with a PDA via 802.11 so that I can control the system(need an embedded web server on the 8051 too and a TCP/IP stack - so I'v been told).
I'v never taken on a project like this before and am a little lost with some of the details.
More specifically, how can I get a PDA to communicate with the 8051? I'd imagine I need some sort of web server and network connection.
I'v been told I'll also need a TCP/IP stack - Are there any freely available stacks for 8051(preferably ones that don't require me having to know anything about TCP/IP)?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Andrew
