Hello there

the problem is that i have multiple devices which need to communicate with my main controller using RS232. Main controller has AT89c52 with a MAX232 chip as well as all devices.

What i want to do is that i want to connect(it can be any number of devices 1-9) multiple devices to a single main controller. if any device sends a character then i will be received on the main controller. and if main controller send a character then all devices should get that character.

Question is, can i connect multiple devices to a single MAX232 chip pins so that any single transmited by any device can be received on main controller and any single transmitted by main controller can be received on all devices.



Also other devices are located at remote locations.... say 10-100 meters... who can i ensure the guaranteed singal transmission.
