Those are series resistors, surely...
Thank you for correcting my bad english, Andy! Joke aside. Of course, I know that this is a series resistor. But I named it shunt resistor, because it's function is the same as standard shunt resistor commonly found with current meters. Here a low ohmic resistor (shunt) is connected in parallel to high ohmic voltage meter inputs. Current then is calculated from voltage drop across shunt resistor. So, in this application inserted series resistor has same function as shunt resistor of current meter. And because it's purpose here is to meassure current, I named it shunt resistor. Would I have had recommended this low ohmic resistor being a part of power supply filter, I would have named it series resistor. Kai |
