I learned on the "late 1980's" version of OrCAD. And on the old Protel Autotrax. I've actually compiled the old part libraries, complete with the "#,." bitmaps. While I've used CAD based schematic packages ever since, these were the experiences that caused me to reject autorouters until just a couple of years ago. Now I use Protel Design Explorer 99SE, and am extremely pleased with it. And yes, I have no doubt that Mentor Graphics and Specctra are much better packages, but I don't have the luxury of someone else's money to spend. Have you ever heard it said that money was no object? They lied. |
