#58816 - New Quoting Feature, More Ideas? |
Acting on advice in another thread that reminded me of something I've meant to do for some time, we now have a new method to quote messages.
If you would like to quote text from a previous message, you may do so by using the "tag"
and terminating the quoted text with
. Please note that the tag is contained in brackets, not HTML less/greater than signs. For example, the following text in your message:
Hello there!
will produce: Hello there! Further, you can cite who you are quoting (in case it isn't obvious) by opening the quote with
. For example, the following text in your message:
Hello there!
will produce: Craig Steiner said:
Hello there! This is basically an idea from forum software called phpBB. But I do like this quoting approach since it can "standardizes" how we each quote each other. As it stands, some people use the "Quote" button at the bottom of the form, others (such as myself) cited quoted text in italics, and others just include the text. Hopefully this will make citing text more consistent. If you have any other ideas for improving the forum, please post them here. There other two threads on this topic were useful but have grown quite huge so I'm going to delete them--but please be assured that I read every message so they weren't wasted discussions. Any additional ideas, including additional tags or features that you'd like to see in the forum, please comment here. Best regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
