Why does Philips make it SO hard to find their product???
It must be because it's fun. 2-3 years ago Philips had one of the easiest websites to navigate and then somehow it was 'destroyed'. Probably some webguru convinced management that a webguru knew more about what a website should be than the actual users (sound familiar?)

Anyhow, when using one of your links I realized the name was MF<SPACE>RC531 and entering RC531 without the 'MF' in the Philips search gave 17 hits, one loaded with appnotes and who knows what. Have a look.

Again on the shortform "datasheet' ALE is shown as an input so my guess is that you put an address on the datalines and strobe ALE.
