The biggest problem that I've noticed with Opera is that the program load time goes through the roof as time goes by; the cache and/or the history data structures seem to be the cause of this, as clearing whichever of them yields dramatic improvement.

In this case, though, the trouble accessing your site arose virtually overnight, vs. slow degradation.

I have on a few occasions tried using IE as a workaround, and fount it to be or miss; atm it's working fairly well.

While I have come across sites that won't load well via Opera unless I set it to identify itself as IE, and yet others that still won't load well but behave alright via IE, I strongly suspect that this is more due to Microsoft's subversion of the HTML standard, and folks targeting their sites to IE, either intentionally or inadvertently, via their selection of tools.

When I spoke of an anonymizer, I was saying that that was the only way that I _could_ get through (still using Opera, though); it's not my normal method. Given as it surely takes another path, thus my thoughts of it being path related. On the other hand, I suppose one can't assume it to be a totally transparent surrogate, and so may be conducting the load differently on its client and/or server side.

This weekend I had opportunity to use a machine located elsewhere from here; Opera again, but Win98. Pretty much the same problem, except the load would conclude, yielding an incomplete page, rather than stall interminably. Via IE, I also noted stalls, which typically recovered; upon recovery, what seemed to be loading were images. Routing was wholly diverse from that previously reported, until it got to rd.hr.cox.net.
