I suggest you to read the book "The 8051 Microcontroller and Embedded Systems" by Mazidi. This is the best book I think. I also started 8051 with this book. It is written in very simple english so it is very easy to understand. And second it contains lot of example programe and projects. You must also purchase one development board so you can test your programe.
