Not speaking as one who has done it, but if one were to use an 8051 derivative that has L1 (PHY) HLDC for bit stuffing and FCS, add some RAM for packet buffers, do you think that a LAPD implementation would be realizable? Perhaps I should qualify my question. I am curious because I am considering implementing LAPB (roughly similar to LAPD) as an L2 protocol (but asynch at L1) and after reading the ISO specs for both "generic" HDLC and the specific LAPB subset, and after looking over some the source code for some production implementations, I would have thought it could fit along with the application. So, I don't want to go down that path if LAPD(B) has no chance. |
