#62582 - RE: Differential lock controller Responding to: ???'s previous message |
"Diff lock ? Diff lock ? Whats it for ? "
You know in vehicles when you go round corners the differential allows inner wheel to rotate slower than the outer wheel, it makes sense because the outer wheel have to travel longer distance than the inner wheel. but assume you go in a wild terrain and one wheel gets stuck in the snow or lifted up, the differential gives all the speed to the wheel in the air because there is no friction and the other wheel gets stuck in the pit keeping the vehicle stand still. So a genius idea was to use a diff lock which cancels the differential forcing wheels to rotate at same speed and so giving more torque to the wheel with more friction, this way the vehicle gets out of the pit even if the other wheel is still in the air. My controller controls electric motor which locks the differential or unlocks it. For now I only control rear differential because our car doesn't have center or front differential. Mahmood |
