Why muck with the overhead of bankswitching?.
You have derivatives from several maufacturers such as the Phulips Mx and 669 that address megabytes linearily. The timing and interrupt latency overhead caused by bankswitching makes that approach very undesirable. At least now, where there is no 'need' to implement it why fight it?
