#65122 - 5V vs 3.3V
I am evaluating updating an older design that uses the Dallas/Maxim DS80C320. One of the decisions is moving it to 3V. The DS80C323 CPU claims to support all the features of the DS80C320, but operates at 2.7V - 5.5V.

After downloading the latest data sheet, the next step is to check price and availability. It looks like the '323 is several dollars cheaper than the '320.

Here's the question: If the '323 runs at 3V or 5V, why don't I (any most everyone else) stop buying the '320 and use the '323? The only thing that jumped out at me from the data sheet is that the '320 can be had in 25 or 33 MHz versions, while the '323 is only 18 MHz. But if the XTAL is 11 MHz, that is not an issue.

I suppose I should go read the entire data sheet to see what I discover...

Thanks.
