For PC matching baud rates I would suggest using baud rate crystals, like 11.0592, 14.7456, 18.432MHz and so on.

Its not wise to select a crystal without view on the baud rate generation, since only the baud rate can cause restrictions on selecting the crystal.

Any other peripherals on an 8051 are totally independend from the crystal (timers, I2C, SPI, ADC, PWM and so on).
