There are a number of open source graphics programs which support opening and displaying TIFF files. You could check a site like http://freshmeat.net and search there. Once you see the algorithm for opening a TIFF file and converting it to an in-memory bit map, you can judge whether the 8051 is capable of handling the task.

You'll have to refer to your LCD datasheet for its requirements.
