What do you mean by "a 9volt smoke alarm?"
Do you just mean that it runs off a 9-volt battery?
That tells us virtually nothing about its interface requirements!

Are you sure that this alarm actually has a specific output for connecting to external devices?
If not, perhaps you should get one.
Remember, people could die if you mess-up the smoke detector!
