#6720 - RE: Using 8052 to do Smart Card ATR testing |
The best way to analyse an ATR...
And ATR is nothing but an Answer to Reset.... well, the answer to reset answers are actually in the Answer itself... some bits say the parity, others say the baud rate, others say factory information. The ATR in actually is like a VIN number for your chip. Your best bet if you wanna use a microcontroller, is to simply acquire the data, throw it in a bunch of fields and output a premade template to an lcd or a hub with led's if you will.... the simple part of that is that you can make a bus clocked to what the unit is saying, and latch all data to a multiplexer (Say a little programmable pld work work as well, considering those are easy to program especially in a university, plus are cheap) and create an output. Information on deciphering the ATR are availble in places like www.piratescove.com, www.dr7.com and possibly in the www.8052.com library, although i've yet to look. But then, the whole thing would be alot easier and cheaper just to get yourself a cheap little serial port reader, decompile the code from something like BasicH3.0 or Winexplorer 4.4, chuck it into a nice little c++ program, and make a matrix and template for your data... at the same time, you could in theory plot out the actual voltage readings and timings.. thus turning your reader into a scope to monitor all data traffic to the voltage level for future projects. lemme know what you think.
