I think a power MOSFET would be worth considering for your application. They are ideal for DC switching applications because they have the advantage that they have a very low on resistance: they stay very cool and have a very low drop. I believe Siemens even makes some optocouplers with a power MOSFET output stage under the name "solid state relay".
Siemens also makes optocouples with direct darlington outputs. |
