i m building a little project using 89c51.
the goal is to calculate energy consumption of whole house.for that i have to calculate the ac current consumption of main power lines ..presently i hv few ideas.ie to use C.T(current transformer) and than measured the step down current..problem is to how to measure that step down current ..can any one tell me how to measure uptil 5A current so as to i can feed it to ADC0804 or ADC0808 and than buy 89c51 i can do the calculation ie P=IxV and E=PxT..plz help me and feel free to give me any help to comments on improving any design or anything..also tell me is there any specialized controller for this type of purpose.....
