Logic level MOSFETs can be driven by any HC(T) output. I often use an inverter (HC(T)04), which costs next to nothing and has the added bonus that the MOSFET is off at power on. For a low speed application, such as your solenoid, one output will be enough. For higher speed you can parallel several gates to increase the output current (needed to charge and discharge the MOSFET's gate capacitance fast enough).
