#67802 - RE: LOW-SIDE MOSFET DRIVER Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have worked on low side as well as high side gate drivers circuits for MOSFET. Your driving requirement is quite simple. my suggestion are
(1) Put a opto-coupler in between Micro & MOSFET Often trasient generated due to switiching ON/OFF of inductive load such as Relays are coupled to microcon pin resulting in hanging (jumping to to arbitatry prog loac) of micro (could be serious if wdog not impl) of it may damage micro pins also. U can use any NPN / PNP trans (BC148 / BC 157 ect) for driving opto-coupler diode. (2) Preferably use 12 V gate drive volt to fully drive MOSFET in saturation (ON resis ta minimum value) with 5 V gate drive , MOSFET does not go into satura and resulting high value ON resis may heat up MOSFET. Use gate resistance values 150 - 1k( depa on MOSFET charc (3) Gate Pin should be at GND OR Neg Vol for proper/complete turn off(dont leave it floating) |
