& don't forget to check that the LCD is ready before writing to it!
I once memory-mapped an LCD onto an 8085 processor - it worked fine. So it was only 3.072MHz instead of 12MHz - I don't think the LCD will mind! The LCD interface on the Atmel development board (can easily be modified for 8052) is memory-mapped - address bit 14 is RS, so 8000h/C000h access data or instruction (I forget which - it's all on a bit of paper on my desk somewhere!).
