#68420 - RE: Future of EEPROMs Responding to: ???'s previous message |
So how you look at their future while every micor has got its own flash righ "on-chip"
Are there any requirements which would use EEPROMs without a micro ..... may be, may be not. Indeed, one of mine has program flash on chip and 2Mbyte of DATA flash externally. Also, some programmable chips (not micros) rely on external flash for configuration. Also, some of the chips that use RAM for program for faster access rely on external (in this case serial) flash for code. The bane of external code memory is, of course, the inability to protect it from being read by copyhyenas. Erik PS I know it is "copycat", but someone stealing code is a hyena that consider himself a smart cat. |
