the last code you gave me, i got EI CAAA , as you remember, i tried moving the call delay routing to print statement, but still no use.

you might have picked up my question wrong, i did get 'ERIC MCNAMARA' printed to the display, in the code i had the link to, i changed it to (try) and get the date sent from rtc to the lcd, and after i changed and tinkered with it, i got the black boxes,

i can revert to my original (and badly laid out!) code and get my name back on the screen, but that is not much use....

i have not used assembley before, in fact java is the only language i have done in college! how bad.
