Take a look at the hack Furby site I pointed out a couple of days ago, he's using a 1 meg Serial Flash to store Wav files on the furby. I suppose you could store phoneme speech samples in the FLASH and then read them out as you need to build a word. I guess thats how you can do it with a soundblaster card in your PC.
