i\'m new to electronic stuffs and currently doing a small project require me to implement 4 7segment display digits as countdown timer(2 for hours and another 2 for minutes) that are connected to Port0 of 89c51 via 74ls47 decoder. In addition, 2 buttons are added to the circuit as well(1 to increase the hour digit and another 1 to increase the minutes) . Once the timer reaches zero, it will trigger a normal/stepper motor that connected to Port2.

my questions are:
1. can i use 74ls47 to implement this task? any other decoder can be used to simplify my program?
2. can someone provide me a sample code for the timer?
a sample code for 1 digit will do...just for my reference...

i\'ve been searching for assembly programming resources on the internet...but couldnt find any..
