Well the members seem to be in a mood for it.

Technically speaking it would be a good idea to have galvanically isolated sensing methods for your analog ( current and voltage )and digital inputs. I am sure you will be using some kind of relays for your didgital outputs so thats already taken care of.

But if you are sensing these and relaying for purpose of data acquistion then its fine. What bothers is your statement about controlling - I am sure power station controls - switching distribution loads, on load tap chaning of transformers and the like are not simple topics if you are planning to learn them on the go.
